What is Sustainability?
So sustainability, what exactly is that? We hear about it all over the news, on social media, and even on the streets. But what exactly does that word even mean? Well, Google defines sustainability as 'avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance.' Sounds like an easy definition right?
But when we break it down, sustainability is so much more than just a definition. It’s a way of thinking, living, and consuming that considers the long-term impact on the planet and future generations. It’s about making choices that minimize harm to the environment while supporting the well-being of society as a whole.
In terms of fashion, sustainability means rethinking how we produce, consume, and dispose of clothing. The fast fashion industry has taught us to buy more, wear less, and throw away what doesn’t suit us anymore, often without considering the environmental consequences. This throwaway culture has led to an overwhelming amount of textile waste, pollution, and resource depletion. But sustainable fashion offers an alternative—it encourages us to use resources wisely, produce garments ethically, and extend the life cycle of the clothes we already own.
At Coastal Revival, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We’re on a mission to repurpose discarded clothing into stylish, eco-friendly swimwear and lingerie, reducing waste while offering you a chance to make more conscious fashion choices. Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a movement towards a future where fashion can be innovative, beautiful, and kind to the planet. Let’s all be part of that change.
